1st/2nd June 19 - Some mixed weather over the weekend but that didn’t dampen our enjoyment and we were pleased to support South West Paddlefest at the Mount Edgcumbe Country Park. Good company, excellent live music from Girl Friday and The Busketeers, with scrummy food at The Micro Kitchen and Rise and Grind. As well as enjoying being on the water, several kayakers collected some litter with a Paddle for Plastic. Two of our team provided safety support with our boat out on the water during kayaking sessions and two other volunteers chatted with the general public at our gazebo stand.

Thanks Paddlefest for putting on a great weekend for everyone.

Fathoms Free is a group of volunteer divers who protect marine wildlife and the environment for everyone's benefit by removing ALDFG (abandoned, lost, or otherwise discarded fishing gear) and other marine debris from the coastal waters of Cornwall and Devon.

ALDFG is also known as ghost gear or ghost fishing gear, as it continues to "fish," entangling, trapping, and killing wildlife indiscriminately. These trapped animals will die and act as bait, attracting more wildlife in a vicious cycle of death until the ghost gear is removed from the environment.
