Following on from last couple of successful Autumn Beach Clean Series, Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) are once again calling for volunteers to take part again this year during the week of 11-17 April 2016.
Beach Clean and Dive Against Debris joint event at the picturesque Hemmick Beach on Saturday 16th April; as part of Surfers Against Sewage Autumn Beach Clean and Fathoms Free continued work to collect debris from the sea.

Venue: Hemmick Beach, (near Boswinger) St Austell, Cornwall PL26 6LL
Time: beach clean (public) - 10am to 2pm
Time: divers - to be on site for 12noon (high tide at 2.20pm)
Meeting point: entrance to the beach (next to small car park)
Directions: Hemmick Beach is 9 miles from St Austell (at St Austell take the B3273 for Mevagissey. Shortly after Pentewan turn right for Gorran Haven and follow this road all the way to Gorran Haven. At Gorran Haven, turn right and follow this road for a mile, then turn left and after a short distance the car park is after a bend.
Facilities: please note there no cafe or toilets at the site
Parking: There are a few spaces next to the beach, but would encourage people to use the National Trust car park (10 to 15 minute walk away at Penare PL26 6NY). Divers will need to drop their kit off at the beach and park in the NT car park. There is an honesty box for parking donations in the car park.

Anita will be at the stand to answer any questions you may have.
All litter collected is to be returned to Anita, so it can be weighed and sorted, so as much as possible can be recycled.

All divers from Fathoms Free are asked to meet onsite at 12noon, Rob will be your main contact and will brief everyone on site. High tide is at 2.20pm. There will be one dive during the afternoon. Rachel will be on site to analyse any debris brought up by the divers.

General info if you haven't been to one of our diving events before!
- Divers need to be suitably qualified individuals, deemed to be adequately experienced or appropriately supervised
- Divers need to (and evidence) to Fathoms Free that they have their own valid public liability insurance
- Bring your own full dive kit (if you do need any additional kit, please contact us, we maybe able to put you in touch with someone who can help) ie Air fill or Cylinder Hire etc
- Bring your own divers net bag/knife/scissors/smb/gloves/qualification cert cards
- Enough air for one dive (will only be doing one dive due to tides)
