Fathoms Free have own own Humber Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boat (RHIB) known as Casper.

As a boat originally designed for racing and being powered by a 115HP Evinrude outboard engine, Casper can transport a team of volunteers to anywhere they are needed, from an offshore wreck or reef to an inaccessible cove.

Casper is fitted with a Raymarine combined plotter and sounder which enables accurate location and visualisation of dive sites.

When not in the water, Casper is kept on a twin axle trailer which, with aid of our Mitsubishi Pickup, means that a team can deploy to any location around the coastline at short notice.

Fathoms Free is a group of volunteer divers who protect marine wildlife and the environment for everyone's benefit by removing ALDFG (abandoned, lost, or otherwise discarded fishing gear) and other marine debris from the coastal waters of Cornwall and Devon.

ALDFG is also known as ghost gear or ghost fishing gear, as it continues to "fish," entangling, trapping, and killing wildlife indiscriminately. These trapped animals will die and act as bait, attracting more wildlife in a vicious cycle of death until the ghost gear is removed from the environment.
