Tesco’s Bags of Help Initiative
Diving & Beach Clean Health & Safety Project
Jan 2017

1st March 2017

Well the results are in …. and yes, we made it to 1st Place!!!

Thank you to everyone who voted for us in Tesco stores in January 2017 receiving £2,000 for our Health & Safety Beach Equipment Project!!!! with funding from Tesco’s #BagsofHelp initiative @Tesco_SouthWest

This will help us buy equipment and safety items to help the public at our beach cleaning events, including litter pickers, reusable gloves, recycled refuse bags, hand gel, first aid items and more.

This really helps us in our quest to clean the beaches and oceans!

More pics to follow once we have purchased this equipment with the public being able to see and use the equipment.

Thank You

“Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative across England and Wales. The scheme sees three community groups and projects in each of around 200 Tesco regions awarded grants of £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.

Bags of Help offers community groups and projects across the UK a share of revenue generated from the 5p charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store from the 2nd to the 28th January 2017 on who should receive the £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 awards”.

So if you shop in participating Tesco scores in January, please use your token and vote for us to become First Place (please note you will receive a token with any purchase and you don’t need to purchase a carrier bag).

We will be using the much needed funds to purchase equipment that helps volunteers at our diving/beach cleaning events. This includes aluminium litter pickers, bags to collect the rubbish, gloves to protect volunteers when picking up litter, an oxygen medical kit for any diver related injuries, basic first aid boxes and hand cleansing gel etc.

Thank you for your support.
