Mevagissey Debris Dive 22/01/2017

Blog by Dave Perry

One of our most dived for debris sites!

Mevagissey harbour is normally our first debris dive of the year and January is never the driest and warmest!

This event we had 6 divers (Rob, Colin, Sue, Jess, Nat & Veronika) and 3 shore support (Zillah, Ollie and Liz).

We also had the added benefit of releasing approx 600 baby lobsters into the wild, courtesy of The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow.

A total of 16kg of debris was collected plus a 12kg piece of chain.

As we always hope for, bringing up debris, analysing and recording it on the harbour car park gets members of the public intrigued. Several of which chatted to Zillah who was able to tell them what Fathoms Free do and what happens to the debris (physically and electronically).

Shame i wasn’t able to make this event personally but thanks to everyone that helped contribute 🙂
