The Great British Spring Clean at Port Gaverne – 04/03/2017 (morning)

Blog by Dave Perry

Well…it was meant to be a combined diving and beach cleaning day, but unfortunately due to bad weather conditions the diving side was cancelled.

We (Anita, Rob, Natalia, John, Jim and myself) still carried on with the beach cleaning side of things even though it was very windy and constant showers. We kindly had Neil from Keep Britain Tidy and Sarah from the National Trust help us as well 🙂

The beach wasn’t too bad, but was told that only a few days before the beach was covered in litter and lobster pots washed up. Locals had removed alot of the bigger items and most of the rest had got washed back out to sea on the next tide.

We hoever carried on and collected several bags of various litter – leaving the beach very close to 100% litter free.

By the time we had finished, we retreated to the local pub opposite for some well deserved drinks before heading off to another beach to clean in the afternoon….. New Polzeath (also known as Baby Bay) approx 6 miles away.
